The people who are defendants will. Sit there sometimes for a really long time without saying anything at all. This waiting around is not a waste of time. It is how the court system works. If the court makes decisions quickly it can really mess up peoples lives. So the court system takes its time even if people who are not in the court get really frustrated, with how slow it’s. People usually do not pay attention to the public gallery. The public gallery is something that’s easy to miss. We often walk by the public gallery without giving it a second thought. The public gallery is a place that deserves attention from all of us.
People who sit in the back benches come for lots of reasons. Some of these people are family members of someone involved. Some of these people are journalists who want to know what is going on. Some of these people are students who want to learn. Some of these people are just curious about what’s happening.
The people in the back benches watch everything that happens. They do not say anything. Sometimes they judge what they see. Sometimes they feel sorry for the people involved. When people are being watched by strangers it makes everyone feel more nervous and stressed.
